John Cay‘s The statutes at large, from Magna Charta, to the thirtieth year of King George the Second, inclusive was published posthumously in six volumes in 1758, a year after his death.
It is not complete: there are no private acts, many expired statutes and acts of a local nature are also omitted, and some others are summarized. Nevertheless, Marvin’s Legal Bibliography (1847) states it “was edited and printed with great care,”
The sixth volume has an index, with regnals rather than page numbers. Note that much of the text is in gothic script, and therefore problematic for standard OCR applications (not to mention, the human eye).
